Newborn Baby Checklist For First Time Parents- How To Easily Have Your Checklist Completed

Creating a checklist for your baby can be exhausting but only if you have not been to Today I will be sharing with you my personal new-born baby checklist for first time parents and two effective ways I employed in having it completed.

In my previous post I mentioned my brother was blessing me with a beautiful nephew. Well, I don’t know for sure if we’re having a girl or boy yet but I hope it’s a boy, I’ve been dying to have a nephew.

Being given the honor of planning my sister-in-law a gender reveal party in upcoming weeks. I was inspired to create a checklist for first time parents.

How did I even thought of a checklist?

If you’re already a family of mybabyshoot you know I have mentioned getting into my ‘MOOD’, which is, just putting a lot of thought and meaning to my work. Especially one I am most passionate about, so thinking about the whole concept of hosting a gender reveal party was thrilling. With that came a huge factor, yes you’re right MONEY.

I wanted to make her new experience of motherhood as exciting and stress-free as possible. One way I thought of completing my quest was by being as cost-efficient as possible. Not only am I hosting a gender reveal party but I will also creatively have her new-born baby checklist completed with a surprised baby shower.

The checklist

Yes, a surprise baby shower was one of the two ways I had the checklist completed. So the first task at hand was creating that list. Please be mindful that this list is subjected to change and may be adjusted to your baby personal needs. It is also definite to the age group 1-6 months.

Each individual has different needs and wants, especially expecting mothers and so this checklist was created by not only what I had researched. This was from my mother’s experience of having all five of us including a pair of twin, my grandmother’s and a very close friend of mine. With everyone adding something different to the list.

Please feel free comment suggestions on what could be added or even be replaced.

  • Hats, turbans
  • Socks, Mittens (these are for the baby hands)
  • Onesies bodysuit
  • Bodysuit
  • Romper
  • Bibs

  • Baby wipes
  • Baby wash cloth
  • New-born diapers
  • Desitin (used for diaper rash treatment)
  • Lotion
  • Olive Oil

  • Powder
  • Hair brush

  • Baby bathtub
  • Shampoo & body wash

  • Bottles
  • Sippy Cups
  • Bottle cleaning set
  • Thermos baby bottle warmer

  • Receiving blankets
  • New-born pacifier
  • Baby Crib or Bassinet

  • Baby books for first time parents
  • Baby Carrier
  • Stroller
  • Baby Mat (mostly for entertainment purposes)
  • Mosquito Net for baby (Most bassinet comes with a net)

The Surprised Baby Shower To Complete A Checklist

The hardest thing so far about the entire process of planning the baby shower is keeping it a secret. Nevertheless, I have absolute faith it will be a great success. Luckily, you are now a part of our family and so I will be sharing with you video clips of the entire process. So let me get into it after I have created the WhatsApp group with every desirable person she wished to attend. The baby shower was planned around the gender reveal in mind, each person was expected to wear a color to represent the gender of the baby they wish she has. The baby shower will only remain a secret for the expected mother and so everyone is preparing to bring gifts.

In the group is where discussion of everything baby related would take place. What was appropriate as a gift is the most popular question asked. Persons often times ask of suggestions in which I would suggest the list created above. I would also advise to get gender neutral items as well.

A baby shower is no doubt an effective way of completing a new-born baby checklist for first time parents. Another great yet simple way of completing a checklist would be doing small shopping, that is doing a portion of your checklist at a time.

Small Shopping Works

The very task of completing a list for your baby’s arrival as a new mom can be exhausting and so doing small shopping at a time really helps. That is choosing a specific day(s) for specific tasks, let say you take a day or more to shop for bathing and clothing accessories. This helps your mentality ultimately, you are now able to:

Focus on getting good quality products

• Cost comparison between different items

• Just limit the chance of missing an item

Doing small shopping really works for us as opposed to doing it all at once, which can really be stressful. This I find to be a simple yet effective way of completing a checklist.

Creating a checklist as a first-time parent for your baby’s arrival can be an exciting, relaxing and cost-effective experience. Here at mybabyshoot, we are not only about providing choices in purchasing good quality products.

We also wish to welcome you to our family as we offer personal life experiences in helping to make your life a lot better.

  1. Hi, I really enjoyed your article. 🙂 Yes, I also used a list similar to this before my son was born. I agree. And because you mentioned cost effectiveness, I just wanted to add that parents should also keep in mind that they don’t have to buy everything before birth. For some things you can wait and see what you actually need and buy it as you need it. Otherwise you might spend a lot on things you won’t actually ever use. 🙂

    1. You’re welcome Amalia and thank you for stopping by. I agree with you about buying somethings after the baby is born, this way you won’t have anything in excess. Thank you for another great way of being cost-effective.
